Named WWI “James L. McGinty” Silver Star and 5 Bar Victory Medal Group

A three medal World War I valor group comprised of the Silver Star, the five bar Victory Medal, and the French Verdun Medal.  The Silver Star is contained within its original Bailey, Banks & Biddle Philadelphia Quartermaster contract box. The medal is on a slot brooch with the suspension marked “BBB Co. Phila”. The star is officially hand engraved “James L. Mc Ginty” and it is numbered “2214” on the edge. The label on the box end also bears the same handwritten number. The group further includes Mc Ginty’s five bar Victory Medal with clasps for “Montdidier-Noyon”, “Aisne-Marne”, “St. Mihiel”, “Meuse-Argone”, and “Defensive Sector”. Finally the group includes the French Verdun Medal, with attachment prongs. The lid of the box for the Verdun medal is present with the group. The Victory Medal has a bit of wear to the ribbon, but overall the group is in excellent condition, with clea ribbons and the medals having a fine, uncleaned, patina. Item number 32464.
