Named Weimar Era / Third Reich German Army General Föhrenbach’s Uniform with Tunic and Breeches

$7,950.00

The uniform is comprised of a high quality tailor made tunic in the old style of the Weimar Era, the tunic being in field gray wool and accompanied by the tailored slate gray breeches with the distinctive red stripes of a General in the German Army. The interior pocket contains a tailor’s label which is named to General Fohrenbach and which is dated “6 Marz 1928”. The shoulder boards of the tunic each have two pips, indicating an Army rank that bore the formal title of “General der ___”, with the branch of the General in his title, such as “General der Infanterie”, or “General der Panzertruppe”. The rank corresponded to the American or British rank of Lieutenant General. The gold bullion tunic collar tabs and breast eagle all show a fine, even age toning. The wear of the Third Reich eagle and swastika reflects the fact that the General continued to wear the uniform through the Weimar period and into the Third Reich. The breast eagle has a few broken strands of bullion thread. The lower left front of the tunic has two sets of loops for badges or decorations. The buttonhole of the tunic carries the ribbon of the 1914 Iron Cross, Second Class. On the upper left breast are five loops for a long ribbon or medal bar. The interior of the tunic has the label of a Dresden tailor. The tunic shows some very minor spots of tracking between the first and second buttonholes, and the tunic otherwise exhibits relatively light wear and makes an excellent appearance. The breeches also show only light wear and they are, like the tunic, quite clean and make an excellent appearance. The breeches have a watch chain sewn to the waist, with the watch attachment clip missing from the bottom of the chain. The interior of the breeches have a large embroidered label with initials that are hard to make out. Overall the uniform is in excellent condition and it makes a very impressive appearance.  Here is a brief Germany Army bio of General Fohrenbach:
