Named U.S. Navy Admiral’s Visor Cap by Bancroft
$450.00
The white top of the cap exhibits spots and soiling. The rear seam of the cap band is split. The leather sweatband is named to “Oscar Smith”. This was presumably Commodore Oscar Smith, who graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1908 and who rose to the rank of Commodore, a position that was viewed as equivalent to a Rear Admiral before it was abolished. He served as Commander Training Task Force, from 3 April 1943 to 4 March 1944, and as Deputy Chief of Staff to Commander-in-Chief Atlantic, from December 1944 to August 1945. The cap is marked as a size 7-1/4. Overall very good condition.
