Named Third Reich Police Gendarmerie NCO Visor Cap

$600.00

A Third Reich visor cap for non commissioned officers of the Gendarmerie, the branch of the German Police responsible for small towns and more rural areas. The cap has a nice saddle shape and is constructed in police blue green ribbed material of a wool rayon blend. The cap is piped in orange for the Gendarmerie. The front of the cap displays the first pattern two piece Third Reich police eagle. The cap has an intact interior celluloid sweat shield that is manufacturer marked by the Berlin Firm of Robert Lubstein (better known by its brand name of “Erel”). The cap exterior shows typical signs of wear and use and has perhaps a few very tiny holes, but overall it is quite clean. The underside of the interior leather sweat band is named to the original owner, “H. Kettermann”, The cap is a fine example of a private purchase police cap, and Herr Kettermann obviously wanted to look sharp, since he spent a few more Deutschmarks and acquire the “Extra” class cap from the Lubstein firm. That “Extra” designation is impressed into the leather sweatband. Overall excellent condition showing light use.
