Named Japanese Navy Officer’s Full Dress Uniform and White Summer Uniform Group

The group is comprised of one Japanese Navy officer’s full formal dress blue uniform as well as his white summer uniform. The uniforms and the caps, as well as the leather carrying case, bear  the name of  “Yamakoshi”. The blue formal dress uniform is comprised of the long blue frock coat together with the matching vest and trousers, as well as the Imperial Navy officer’s cased cocked hat and epaulettes set. The frock coat is missing one gilt button. The upper left breast has thread loops for the wear of a medal bar. The cuffs of the uniform show the rank braid for a Sub-Lieutenant. The uniform further includes the officer’s cocked hat and dress epaulettes, which are contained within their named leather carrying case, as well as a set of suspenders. Both the uniform and the cocked hat are named with embroidered kanji. The entire uniform is in exceptional condition, without holes, damage, or repairs. The group also includes the same officer’s white summer uniform, comprised of the white tunic, matching trousers, and white field cap, with this uniform and cap also named to the officer. The uniform exhibits typical age toning and spots, but it is also without holes, damage or repairs. The interior of the white trousers bears the handwritten name of the owner, “Captain Yamakoshi Ishimatsu” (with the “Captain” rank being the equivalent of a U.S. Navy Lieutenant) and the designation of “Sasebo Defense Corps” (the Japanese term being “Boeitai”) . The white tunic also has loops on the upper left breast for the wear of a medal bar or a ribbon set. The rank boards for the uniform are those of a Lieutenant, and they are contained within their original box.  Overall the set is in exceptional condition and it makes a very impressive appearance.
