Named Imperial Saxon Reserve Officer Pickelhaube with Case and Cloth Combat Cover
$2,250.00
The interior lid of the carrying case bears a cloth label as identifying the owner of the pickelhaube as “Einjahrig-Freiwilliger” (“One Year Volunteer”) Klug of the 134th (10th Royal Saxon) Infantry Regiment. The leather pickelhaube shows typical age crazing, primarily on the front and rear visors, but overall the helmet is in excellent polish and displays a very fine shape. The Saxon Reserve helm officer helmet plate, the brass fish scale chin strap, the spike and the spike plate all exhibit an uncleaned patina. Both the national colors and Saxon officer cockades are present on the helmet. The full interior leather liner and the silk liner are present and intact. The name “Klug” is written on the interior rear visor. Overall the helmet is in excellent condition. The field gray cloth helmet cover is present, marked “D.R.P.” on the interior edge. The cover is in excellent condition, without holes or damage. The leather case shows age, with expected scuffs and spots, but it is in very good condition.
