Named Imperial Prussian Train Battalion Senior NCO Pickelhaube
$675.00
The leather pickelhaube is in an essentially untouched and “as found” condition. The exterior shows typical age crazing of the leather surfaces, with a small hole in the rear visor next to the brass spine. The helmet has a short non-removable brass spike, with a brass front Prussian wappen plate, a brass “fish scale” chin strap, and brass trim on the front visor. All of the brass components of the helmet show an uncleaned patina. The sides of the helmet have officer grade Prussian and national colors cockades. The interior leather liner is present, showing wear and use but complete with drawstring and intact. The interior of the helmet, like the exterior, is in an untouched state. The inner dome of the helmet has the name label of the soldier who wore the helmet, with the label identifying the soldier as a serving in a train battalion. The interior front of the helmet also has an old label with a handwritten notation in English which appears to include the words “German Regiment”. The interior visor of the helmet has what appear to be handwritten notations which are not completely legible. Overall the helmet makes a very good appearance and exhibits great character.
