Named Complete WWI Black Watch (Royal Highland Regiment) of Canada Captain’s Uniform
$2,200.00
The uniform is comprised of the tunic, kilt, shirt, Tam O’ Shanter cap, leather sporran pouch, socks, puttees, and ankle boots. The tunic has a small tear in the right rear, approximately 1/2 inch long, but otherwise the tunic is very clean, with all buttons intact and with the collar insignia of the regiment. The cuffs display the Scottish pattern rank insignia of a Captain. The light gray-green cotton shirt is a pullover style which was designed for a removable collar. The interior of the shirt bears the name of “W.A. MacFadyen”. The kilt is the heavy wool pleated uniform example in the “Black Watch” tartan pattern. The kilt shows a few small scattered holes as well as some internal spots on the waistband from wear, but all straps are intact and the kilt overall is in excellent condition. The leather sporran bears the impressed “R.H.C.” unit designation of the Royal Highland Regiment of Canada, with the full waist belt and the interior being manufacturer marked. The wool Tam cap exhibits soiling and wear on the cap band, with interior soiling from wear. One of the two rear ribbon drapes is gone, while the other is a bit worn, with some separations. The top exterior of the Tam has some surface soiling. The red hackle feather adornment for the Tam is present. The knit wool knee socks with red garter flashes show pulls and scattered holes from wear, but they are intact. The wool ankle puttees are also present with the uniform. The uniform includes leather ankle boots that bear interior labels from Brooks Brothers in New York. The boots show scuffs and wear, but the leather is supple and the boots are without holes or damage. The boots are approximately 12-1/4 inches long when measured on the exterior sole from toe to heel. Overall the uniform set is in very good condition and it makes a very impressive appearance.
