Named British Mess Dress Uniform of an Officer of the 3rd Dragoon Guards (“Prince of Wales’s”)
$265.00
The mess dress uniform is comprised of the scarlet “monkey jacket” with yellow standing collar and cuffs, together with a white collarless shirt, a yellow wool waistcoat, and dark blue wool trousers. The jacket is named to Second Lieutenant M.J. Mockridge of the 3rd Dragoon Guards (“Prince of Wales’s”), with a date of November 6, 1970. There is a single loop on the upper left breast for the wear of a court mounted medal or medals. The waistcoat bears embroidered bullion Scottish thistles in the lower front corners. The trousers are also named to Second Lieutenant M.J. Mockridge, but they were tailored at a slightly earlier date, that of July 28, 1969, by the same Savile Row tailor that would create the jacket. The trousers are also named to Lieutenant Mockridge, but as an officer of the 3rd Carbiniers (“Prince of Wales’s Dragoon Guards”). In 1971, the 3rd Dragoon Guards and the 3rd Carbiniers were combined with two other regiments to form the 1st Queen’s Dragoon Guards. The uniform shows signs of actual wear and use, but it is without holes, damage, or repairs, and it makes an impressive appearance.
