Named and Unit Marked Early SA / NSKK Group Bayerische Ostmark Service Dagger with Hanger by Josef Munch

$1,200.00

The blade shows spots, surface grime, scratches, and typical runner marks, but with some visible cross grain being evident. There is good contrast of the motto against the blade. The reverse ricasso has the maker mark of the firm of Josef Munch of Brotterode. The wooden grip has a well detailed nickel political eagle inset into the grip. At the top of the grip is the enamel SA runes button which is without damage. The base of the reverse side of the grip is scratched with the designation of “NSKK”. One side of the reverse grip is scratched with the unit designation of “3/M82” and the name of “Lohrer, Jos.”, while the name of “Lohrer” is scratched again on the other side of the grip reverse. The grip itself is without chips or cracks and it fits the guards very well. The guards show a fine and uncleaned patina. The lower guard bears the BO” mark of SA Group Bayerische Ostmark. The dagger is tight within the scabbard. The scabbard shows areas of wear to the anodized finish, but the finish is for the most part intact. The brown leather dagger hanger is supple, with the nickel plated belt clip having an uncleaned patina.
