The cotton flag is approximately 27 inches by 39-1/2 inches. The flag retains cord ties on two corners. The flag is named to “Private Second Class in the Army, Mr. Tadao Kase”. The flag bears the declaration of “Prayers for Eternal Good Fortune in Combat”, as well as “”Long Live the Imperial Army!” and “Serve the Country with Utmost Loyalty”. The flag also bears the statement of “Celebrating Dispatch on the Military Expedition” in Manchuria and the designation of “All non-commissioned officers and soldiers of the 5th Squad of the 1st Imperial Guard Infantry Regiment”. The flag shows soiling and spots, but it is without holes or damage and it makes a very impressive appearance.
