The silk flag is approximately 28 inches by 35 inches. Two corners retains cord ties. The flag exhibits signs of age but it is without holes, damage or repairs. The flag bears the declaration of “Eternal Good Fortune in Combat”. The flag also bears the statement of “Celebrating the Enlistment of Mr. Kenichi Asano”. Also present on the flag is the statement “The Japanese spirit can pierce through even a massive boulder passed down through generations”, a poetic, patriotic verse written in heavy calligraphy emphasizing the indomitable strength of the Japanese spirit. The flag further has the statement of “Composed and written together by Ichiki Kitohiko, Senior Fourth Rank, First Class Order of Merit”, indicating that the poetic statement on the Japanese spirit was written by a prominent local figure or official named Kitohiko Ichiki. The flag is covered with the signatures of family members, neighbors, and well-wishers, as well as multiple red shrine stamps. Overall the flag is impressive and in very good condition.
