Named and Cased Posthumous WWII U.S. Navy Purple Heart Group to a Casualty of a Kamikaze Attack at Okinawa

$975.00

The posthumous Navy Purple Heart has a full wrap brooch suspension, and it is officially hand engraved to Pharmacist Mate 2nd Class Kenneth D. Fassbinder, who was killed in action at Okinawa on June 21, 1945, at the age of 20 years old, when the ship on which he was serving, the U.S.S. Curtiss, was struck by a kamikaze pilot. The medal is contained within the titled black Navy “coffin” case, which retains its original protective tissue paper insert. Pinned inside of the case lid are Fassbiner’s posthumously awarded American Campaign Medal, Pacific Campaign Medal, and World War II Victory Medal. The case exterior shows some spots, but it is intact. The medals are in excellent condition.
