Named and Cased Posthumous Silver Star, Legion of Merit and Purple Heart 10th Armored Division Officer Medals Group

The group is comprised of the Silver Star decoration, slot brooch suspension, named to “Ronald V. Eardley”. It is contained within the titled black leather case together with the ribbon bar and the enamel lapel badge; the Legion of Merit decoration, with the “Officer” grade device on the ribbon, having a crimp brooch suspension which bears the mark of the Williams & Anderson firm as well as the “G.I.” mark.  The decoration is named “E.V. Eardley”.  The decoration is contained within a titled black leather case together with a ribbon bar that lacks the pin and bears the “V” device. The case is titled for the Legion of Merit “Legionnaire” grade, and the case shows substantial scuffing and some loss of the leather covering material. The Purple Heart is a slot brooch suspension and it is named to “Ronald V. Eardley”. It is contained within the titled black leather case together with the ribbon bar and the enamel lapel badge. Two of the cased decorations are contained within cream colored cardboard boxes. The group also includes a 10th Armored Division patch. The medals are accompanied by some contemporary research that states that Eardley was a Captain in the 10th Armored Division who was killed in action on March 1, 1945 at Ober Zerf Germany. Aside from the case for the Legion of Merit, all of the items are in excellent condition.
