Named 1937 Army Presentation Dish and 1935 NSKK Goblet
$850.00
A silver army presentation dish and a silver plate NSKK goblet, both of which were given to Gerhard Haeublein, an army officer in an armored reconnaissance unit who was the son of army General Georg Haeublein. The younger Haeublein was killed in action on September 9, 1939, within the first days of the Second World War.
The presentation dish bears silversmith marks and a silver content designation of “835”. It is approximately 11 1/2 inches long by 8 inches wide by 2 1/4 deep. On the side it is engraved “Herrn Oberleutnant Haeublein der Reserve Offiziers-Lehrgang S1 S2 S3 K1 K2 K3 Wunsdorf 22 Juni-7 Juli 1937”. The inscription would suggest that the dish was an award or recognition for Oberleutnant Haeublein following his participation in the Reserve Officer Course that is referred to in the inscription.
The goblet is silver plate, with the manufacturer mark on the bottom of the Quist metal fabrication works. It is 4 1/2 inches tall and 2 3/4 diameter on the base. It is engraved “Ehrenpreis der Nachtorientierungsfahrt gest v. d. Motorstaffel I./41 18/19. 5. 35.” The inscription indicates that the gobelt was an Honor Prize awarded by NSKK Motorstaffel I./41 following a night time orientation operation that was held on May 18th and 19th of 1935.
Both the silver dish and the goblet are in excellent condition. They were part of a group of effects of Oberleutnant Haeublein which included several NSKK event participation plaques and table medals which are being offered separately on this site.
