Named 14 Karat Gold 1927 Distinguished Marksman Badge for an Officer of the 186th Infantry Regiment, Oregon National Guard

Excellent condition. The enamel target is without chips or cracks. The reverse is finely engraved on five lines: “1st Lt. Carl V. Shoemaker 186th Inf. Ore. N.G. 1927”. The reverse bottom edge is marked “14 K”. In 1960 the Oregon National Guard created the “Colonel Carl V. Shoemaker Trophy”, to be presented each year to the outstanding rifle marksman of the Oregon National Guard. Weighs 28.46 grams of 14K gold which scraps for 920.84.
