Model 98/05 Modified Sawback Butcher Bayonet

The Model 98/05 “sawback” bayonet, as modified to remove the sawback from the blade. The blade is marked by Mauser on the ricasso and on the scabbard throat. The blade is very clean although there is old, dried oil on the tip that can be easily removed. The wood grips have the minor indentations from use but no chips or cracks. The back of the grip has the narrow sheet of steel that was put in place as a flash guard in 1915. The blued finish on the scabbard shows expected wear but is still quite good. Overall the bayonet is in very good used condition.
