Model 38 Luftwaffe Paratrooper Helmet

The slightly textured exterior blue gray paint is approximately 85% intact, with spots of light surface rust. All four spanner bolts are present. The liner is complete, intact, and marked as a size 68. The chin strap and harness is complete, although the buckle that is normally riveted to the left side of the helmet has become detached. The buckle itself remains present, but the rivet is gone and the end of the harness on the left side, where the buckle would have been riveted, is damaged. The strap on the right side of the harness has a tear of approximately 3/8 of an inch. The liner is stamped “Kopfweite Gr. 56 Stahlhaube Gr. 68”, indicating that the liner was a size 56 while the helmet shell was a size 68. The rear interior skirt of the helmet has a visible “68”, being the size of the helmet shell, and a lot number appears below this, but the helmet manufacturer code is not legible.
