Model 1916 German Camouflage Combat Helmet
$1,450.00
The exterior of the helmet has a three color camouflage scheme, made up of two shades of green paint with the various sections being divided by circular black borders. The exterior paint is approximately 90% intact. The interior liner ring is present and is the thick leather version (which causes some to refer to this style of helmet as a “Model 1917”), with the three leather liner tongues present, all of them having the cotton “pillow” pocket on the back, although none of the pillow pockets contain any filling. The interior of the helmet shell is manufacturer stamped “ET 64”. There is something written in the rear of the skirt that is not legible. There is also an old piece of cotton tape in the skirt on which the name is written of the American officer who took this helmet as a souvenir. Again, that label is not entirely legible, although it appears as though the name may include the rank of “Lt. Col. Inf”, as well as the name of a town in Pennsylvania, with the notations “Pa. USA” being legible. There is also a small spot of yellow paint on the interior rim on which there may have once been a museum accession number written.
