Model 1899 U.S. Army Screen Vent Campaign Hat

The brown fur felt regulation Model 1899 U.S. Army campaign hat with a single screen vent on each side of the crown. The hat has three rows of stitching around the edge of the brim, and the original grosgrain ribbon remains in place around the crown of the hat. The hat has a tear of about 3/4 of an inch on the top edge of the crease of the crown and a few more small holes. The full leather sweat band remains in place on the interior of the hat, although the stitching the secures the sweat band to the cap interior is gone in spots. The sweat band has two strips of old white cloth tape applied to it over a spot where there is a tear in the sweat band. An old price of “$3.90” is written on the sweat band.
