The canvas cartridge belt shoes age and wear, with the belt exhibiting soiling, tiny scattered holes on the reverse from insect involvement and two tears on the reverse, each about 1″. The loops are solid and show no damage. The leather tongue is marked to the Watervliet Arsenal and is is also marked with the name of “A.R. Smith”. The interior of the belt bears a backwards stenciled “3” as well as the unit designation of Company “C” of the 2nd Georgia Infantry. Belt shows the 1879 trial modification (3 brass loops for attaching bayonets. The belt is pliable and it is complete and intact.
