The leather body of the helmet is quite clean, showing some scratches as well as typical age crazing, primarily on the front and rear visors. The fish scale chin strap is in place and complete. The fire gilt front Hessian wappen plate, the spike, the spike base, the front visor edge, and the rear spine all show a toned and uncleaned patina. The large Hessian officer cockade is present on the helmet while the national colors cockade is missing. The interior leather liner present and intact, while lacking the drawstring. Overall the helmet is in very good condition and it makes a fine appearance.
