Model 1851 New York State Infantry Shako
$2,850.00
The wool body of the shako has spots and moth tracking but makes a very good appearance. The front of the shako displays a brass New York state seal and the brass letter “B”. The leather chin strap is retained by eagle “I” buttons on each side. The interior leather sweatband is in place although there is no lining. The wool pom-pom on the top of the shako is in very good condition. The interior of the shako has a cloth panel sewn to the front interior into which the stem of the pom-pom was to be inserted. This panel has come loose and so the pom-pom droops forward on the shako. The top of the leather visor exhibits typical age crazing but the visor is in very good condition.
