The exterior of the leather body of the tall helmet shows age crazing across all of the surfaces, with some scuffs and scratches. The brass front Prussian eagle helmet plate, as well as the brass front visor edge, the fish scale chin strap, the spike, the spike base, and the rear spine all show an uncleaned patina. The helmet retains the enlisted style national colors cockade. The Prussian colors cockades is missing. The interior leather liner shows wear and use but it is intact. The body of the helmet retains a good shape and it makes a fine appearance.
