Mecklenburg-Schwerin M1868 Pickelhaube
$2,950.00
A fine example of the Model 1868 pickelhaube of Mecklenburg-Schwerin. The black leather surface is in very good condition with minor crazing on the visors, and with a small nail hole on the rear visor. The helmet has the large brass / nickel silver wappen of Mecklenburg-Schwerin on the front above the brass fish scale chin strap. The side of the helmet displays a cockade of Mecklenburg-Schwerin, the national colors cockade being missing. The fluted spike is atop a base secured to the helmet with domed rivets. The chin strap, the wappen front plate, the spike, base, and trim all show a toned patina. The interior leather liner shows some wear but in very good condition with no damage. Overall an uncommon helmet in very good condition and which makes a very fine appearance.
