Luftwaffe Officer’s Service Dagger by Paul Weyersburg with Portepee and Hangers

The blade of the dagger is quite bright, showing some spots and scratches but being very clean otherwise. The reverse ricasso bears the mark of the firm of Paul Weyersburg & Company, above which is a Luftwaffe waffen amt mark. The cream colored celluloid grip remains tightly wrapped with twisted wire and the grip itself is without chips or cracks. The pommel shows typical loss of the gilt finish to the swastika on each side, but both the pommel and the guard show fine detail. Tied around the base of the grip is a Luftwaffe officer’s portepee, which shows some fraying of the stem and slide but which is in overall good condition. The scabbard shows a dark gray patina, with the dagger scabbard mounts being lighter and showing some wear. The dagger retains the officer hangers. The fabric straps of the hangers exhibit age and some relatively minimal fraying of the fabric, while the velvet undersides show some wear, but the hangers are in generally very good condition. Overall the dagger is in very good to excellent condition and it makes a fine appearance.
