Luftwaffe Officer Dagger with Hangers by SMF

A second model Luftwaffe officer’s dagger with the blade marked by the Solingen firm of SMF. The celluloid grip is a pale orange color, wrapped with twisted wire. There is a barely visible hairline crack in the uppermost obverse segment of the grip. The uppermost segment of the grip on the reverse has a small chip in that segment of the celluloid as well as a small nick to the collar of the pommel base almost directly above it. The pommel itself retains almost 100% of the original gilt on the obverse and reverse swastikas. The blade is generally bright with a few small spots but without nicks, chips or rust. The scabbard is a medium airplane-metal color with the brighter aluminum fittings. There is a slight dent in the lower obverse of the scabbard. The fabric hangers are backed in velvet and show carrying wear as well as some spots of fraying to the fabric fronts. Overall the dagger is in very good condition.
