Luftwaffe Legion Condor Observer Medals and Documents Group with Spanish Cross in Silver

The group is comprised of the medals, award documents, and insignia of Luftwaffe Observer Hermann Plath. The group is comprised of the following items:
– Spanish Cross with Swords in Silver. The decoration exhibits a fine uncleaned patina, with separately applied eagles.
– The stickpin for the Spanish Cross with Swords in Silver. The badge is mounted on a knurled pin.
– The large award document for the Spanish Cross with Swords in Silver. The document is dated June, 6, 1939 and named to Plath as a Wachtmeister. The document is approximately 9-3/8 inches by 13-1/2 inches. The document shows some spots and stains, but it is without fold lines or damage.
– The Luftwaffe Diver Bomber Squadron Clasp in Silver. The badge is in Tombac, beinf riveted construction and showing excellent detail with a fine uncleaned patina.
– The 1939 Iron Cross First Class. The matte black paint on the iron core is intact, showing some signs of age, particularly on the surface of the swastika. The silver plated frame shows wear to the plating and uncleaned patina.
– Plath’s seven place medals bar. The medals bar displays the 1939 Iron Cross Second Class; the 1939 War Merit Cross Second class, with Swords; the Wehrmacht Long Service Medal for four years of service, with the Luftwaffe eagle device on the ribbon; the Sudetenland Medal of 1 Oktober 1938; the Romanian Crusade Against Communism Medal; The Spanish Military Merit Cross; and the Spanish Civil War Campaign Medal. All of the medals show patina and expected signs of age, but overall the medals are in very good condition, and the Spanish Military Merit Cross is without chips or cracks to the enamel.
– The 1936 “Condor Legion” Wound Badge in black. The badge shows some wear to the black paint, primarily to the surface of the swastika.
– The Spanish War Cross breast star. The star is in excellent condition, without chips or cracks to the enamel and showing an uncleaned patina.
– The large award documents for the Spanish Military Merit Cross and the Spanish Civil War Campaign Medal. The documents are approximately 11-1/4 inches by 15-1/4 inches. The documents show some subtle spots but they are in overall excellent condition.
– The DRL Sports Award Badge in bronze, maker marked by Hensler.
– A “Legion Condor” cuff title, removed from a uniform and approximately 17-3/4 inches long. The cuff title shows age and wear, with some fading.
– A WWII German identification disk.
– Insignia which includes a cloth Luftwaffe Observer badge in unused condition; a pair of senior NCO collar tabs; a uniform breast eagle for EM/NCO ranks; and the eagle and wreath insignia from an EM/NCO visor cap, with the eagle missing one attachment prongs.
– A portrait photograph of Plath, approximately 4 inches by 6 inches. The photograph was a black and white image that was colorized. In the photograph Plath wears the Spanish Cross with Swords; the Iron Cross First Class; a black Wound Badge; a bullion Observer Badge; a Dive Bomber Squadron Clasp; and a five place medal bar, with the bar beig worn in the photograph lacking the 1939 War Merit Cross and the Romanian Crusade Against Communism Medal.
Overall the group is exceptionally impressive and the items are in overall very good to excellent condition.
