Large WWII 8 Inch by 10 Inch Official U.S. Army Signal Corps Photograph: Hermann Goering Surrenders His Presentation Hunting Dagger

$75.00

The photograph was backed in fabric for strength when distributed to the press. Very good condition, with very slight curling from age. The reverse bears a penciled notation of “Herman [Sic] Goering”. The photograph shows Goering wearing his “simplified” uniform as Reichsmarshall. The photograph was taken after Goering had removed his medals and decorations, and it shows him unfastening the special presentation hunting dagger that he was wearing at the time of his surrender, and which bore the inscription of “From Eric to Hermann”, the dagger having been given to Goering by Count Eric Von Rosen of Sweden,  who was the brother of Goering’s first wife, Karin. The dagger is now in the West Point Museum. This listing includes a photograph of that dagger acquired from the internet. A copy of the dagger photograph is not included with this official U.S. Army photograph of Goering.
