Large French Map of an Area of Viet Nam

The large map is approximately 45 inches wide at the widest section by 58 inches long at the longest section. The map is that of the area of Quảng Ngãi province in the South Central Coastal region of Vietnam, on the coast of South China Sea. It is located approximately 549 miles south of Hanoi and 521 miles north of what was Saigon and what is now Hồ Chí Minh City. The map was prepared for use by the French, since it uses French language terms such as “Mer de Chine” for “China Sea”. The map bears inked notations and highlighting, with penciled notations on the reverse side. The map appears to have been used in the field, and it was reinforced for this purpose with wide sections of tape.
