The blued finish of the blade is essentially completely intact, with a film of old oil on the blade. The ricasso is serial numbered on one side, while the opposite side bears the manufacturer code of “S/155G”. with “S/155” being the code used by the Horster firm. The brown Bakelite grip plates are without chips or cracks. The finish on the guard and the pommel is also largely intact, showing relatively minor signs of wear and age. The pommel bears waffen amt marks. The scabbard shows wear to the finish and some spots of surface rust. The scabbard throat is serial numbered, this being a different number from that which is in the blade ricasso. The scabbard throat is also marked “44 crs”, this being the manufacturer code of the firm of Paul Weyersberg. Overall the bayonet is in very good to excellent field used condition.
