Japanese Navy Porcelain Officer’s Serving Dish

A large oval porcelain serving dish with gilt trim and the insignia of the Imperial Japanese Navy. The dish is approximately 9 by 13 inches in size. There is a spider crack beneath the exterior glaze on the top of the dish, approximately 5 inches by 1 1/4 inches. This crack does not appear on the underside of the dish and there is no loss of material from the dish. The dish is trimmed in gilt and bears the insignia of the Imperial Japanese Navy. The underside of the dish is manufacturer marked.
