Japanese Edo Period Matchlock Rifle

The matchlock rifle has an overall length of approximately 51 inches. The wooden stock shows a few typical small dents from age and use, but it is without chips, cracks or repairs. The multiple examples of brass inlays show an uncleaned patina, as do the brass lock plate, hammer, trigger, and the helmeted samurai escutcheon on the top of the stock behind the barrel. The hexagonal iron barrel similarly exhibits a fine patina, with the barrel being without damage or pitting. Overall excellent condition.
