Japanese Army Officer’s Dress Uniform Cap
The black wool kepi style dress uniform cap of a Japanese Army 1st Lieutenant. Japanese wool usually shows significant evidence of mothing, and the leather similarly illustrates that the climate of the Japanese islands is not friendly to aging leather. This cap is the exception that proves those rules, since the wool body of this cap is exceptionally clean and the patent leather visor shows only minimal effects of aging. The full lining and sweatband are intact, the lining being printed with the name “Tanaka”. The gold bullion cord that forms the rank indicator on the cap shows a very pleasing toning. Overall excellent condition.
