Japanese 1st Pattern Army Summer Tanker Helmet

$1,000.00

The lighter weight, fabric covered, helmet that was worn by Japanese Army tank crew personnel in summer or tropical climates. Uncommon first model with leather straps to hold the goggles in place which was deleted from later models. The helmet is in very good condition. The Imperial Army star is affixed to the front. There are a few exterior spots and there is a one inch tear in the cotton fabric cover above and to the right of the star on the front. The fully “Y” harness leather chin strap system is complete and intact. The interior shows use, and there are several issue stamps present on the liner. The name of “Frye” is also written in the liner in two places, presumably the name of the G.I. who brought the helmet home as a souvenir.
