Indian Wars – Spanish American War Model 1885 U.S. Army Cavalry Dress Uniform with Model 1881 Helmet, Model 1874 Belt, and Barracks Shoes

The dark blue wool dress tunic shows some soiling of the yellow wool collar, but the tunic is overall quite clean and without holes or damage. The lighter blue trousers are piped in golden yellow on the pocket edges and reinforced on the seat and inner legs for mounted wear. The trousers show soiling and a few small repairs. The Model 1874 belt is supple and complete. The Model 1881 dress helmet is complete and in excellent condition, with the underside of the leather sweatband bearing a Quartermaster Department stamp as well as a manufacturer stamp with the date of 1895. The helmet is complete with the cavalry dress cords. The barracks shoes exhibit age and some cracking of the exterior surfaces of the leather, but they are complete and intact and in overall quite good condition. Overall the uniform is an impressive ensemble in very good condition.
