Imperial Serbian Orders and Medals Group with Ribbon Set

$1,100.00

A set of significant Serbian orders and medals as awarded and worn by a decorated individual who was likely a ranking physician or surgeon during and after World War I. The group is comprised of the following decorations:

  • The Order of St. Sava, Commander, on a full neck ribbon. The Order is the second type with the figure of Saint Sava wearing green robes;
  •  The Order of the White Eagle, 5th class. The order has some relatively minor loss of blue enamel to the “ribbon” beneath the crown;
  •  The Order of St. Sava, 5th class (officer) with the figure of Saint Sava wearing a red robe;
  •  The Cross of the Red Cross Society (awarded only until 1941);
  •  The World War I French Medal of Gratitude in silver (“Médaille de la Reconnaissance Française”);
  •  The Cross of Mercy of the First Balkan War in gilt; and
  • The Silver Medal of the Red Cross Society of Serbia.

The medal bar and the neck order are accompanied by a set of ribbons that was worn by the recipient. All of the pieces are in excellent condition, with very fine enamel. The ribbons show expected signs of age with slight soiling, but overall the entire set is exceptionally impressive.
