Imperial Sachsen-Coburg-Gotha Artillery Officer Pickelhaube with Cloth Field Cover

The exterior leather body of the helmet shows scuffs and abrasions, but the helmet retains a very good shape and it generally displays a nice polish. The fish scale  chin strap, front visor edge, front plate, spike and spike base all show an uncleaned patina and a quite attractive age toning over the fire gilt finish. The helmet retains both the Saxon and national colors officer grade cockades. The interior leather lining is intact although lacking the drawstring. The correct field gray cloth cover displays typical spots and stains from use in the field, but it is complete and intact, without holes, damage or repairs. Cover is designed to cover a ball spike – not a pointy spike. Overall both the helmet and its accompanying cover are in very good condition and they make a quite impressive appearance.
