The leather surfaces of the helmet are quite clean, with only minimal age crazing. The body of the helmet displays a fine shape. The nickel silver wappen front plate, the fish scale chin strap, the front visor trim, the plume stem and base, and the rear spine all show an uncleaned patina. The rear arm of the spike base is lacking the rivet. The front plate is retained through two holes in the body of the helmet. The plume stem shows some loss of the plating on the surfaces. The large Prussian and national colors cockades are replacements. The wide interior leather sweatband is present, showing age and wear. The rear visor has lost some of its stitching on the right side. The horsehair plume is toned with age. Overall the helmet is in very good condition and it makes a fine appearance.
