Imperial Prussian Jäger zu Pferde Metalhelme Pickelhaube Helmet with Field Gray Cloth Cover
$2,850.00
The blackened steel helmet has a few scattered spots of rust and a series of small dents on the external upper areas of the dome. Both of the larger national colors and Prussian colors cockades that were worn on this helmet are present. This helmet has a “fish scale” style chin strap in Tombak, indicating that this helmet was worn by a member of Jaeger zu Pferde Regments 1 through 4 or Regiment 7 (with regiments 5 and 6 having worn blackened chin scales). A single “scale” is missing on one side of the chin strap. The full leather liner is present and intact, though with an old leather cord in place of the original drawstring and showing areas of wear. The number “55.5” is stamped into the silver trim on the underside of the rear visor. The field gray camouflage cloth cover shows expected signs of age and use but it is free of holes or distracting stains and it is complete and intact.
