Imperial Japanese Navy Full Admiral’s Dress Uniform

$2,950.00

The uniform is comprised of the Admiral’s full dress tailcoat, the matching trousers, and the fore and aft hat. The coat and the trousers are tailored from a very high quality wool, with exceptional toned gold bullion embroidery on the collar. The sleeve cuffs carry the braid of a full Admiral of the Imperial Japanese Navy. The shoulders have metal brackets for placement and retention of the dress epaulettes, which are missing, with the right shoulder also having a button for attachment of the dress aiguillette. On the upper left breast is a line of thread loops for the wear of a medal bar. Some of the stitching has been lost on the top of the right false pocket flap but the flap remains secure on the coat. The trousers are piped with gold bullion on each leg which, like all of the gold bullion on the uniform, shows some degree of age toning. The trousers have a few very small scattered holes but they are barely visible and overall the trousers, like the tailcoat, are quite clean. Interestingly, the trouser buttons are marked “Steinnuss-Hosenknopf”. The uniform also includes the Admiral’s fore and aft hat which shows consistent age toning of the bullion but which is complete and intact. The interior lining of the hat has embroidered kanji, undoubtedly the name of the Admiral who wore the hat. Overall the uniform and the hat are in excellent condition and make an exceptionally impressive appearance.
