Imperial German Lion Head Sword by WKC

The sword has an overall length in the scabbard of approximately 38 inches, with a blade length of approximately 31 inches. The blade is generally quite bright, although it displays a film of surface grime and old oil. The knight’s helmet logo and the letters “W.K.C.” (for Weyersberg Kirschbaum & Cie) are beneath the langet on one side of the ricasso. The celluloid grip is without chips or cracks and it remains tightly triple wrapped with brass wire. The lion head pommel, back strap, guard, ferrule, and the langets all show dark uncleaned patina, beneath which remain remnants of the original fire gilt finish. The scabbard exterior shows age and wear, with approximately 80 percent of the black scabbard paint being intact. Overall very good condition.
