Imperial German Heavy Cavalry Saber

The sword has an overall length in the scabbard of approximately 36 inches, with a blade length of approximately 30 inches.The blade has very worn etched designs, with the blade showing spots, mossy dark areas, and some pitting, primarily near the point on both sides. The leather washer is in place at the top of the ricasso. The spine is marked with the number “9”, while the ricasso has what appears to be a name that was applied with a dot peen style of engraving. The grip is covered in leather, showing scuffs, and it remains tightly wrapped in triple brass wire. The guard, knuckle bow, back strap and pommel all shows a dull and untouched patina. The nickel plated scabbard shows some spots of plating loss as well as uncleaned patina.
