Imperial German Flag Pole Finial

The finial stands approximately 13 inches tall. It has a fire gilt finish over brass and bears the monogram of “FR”. This monogram, without Roman numerals, represented Frederick I of Prussia. In imperial Germany the 125th (7th Württemberg) Infantry Regiment bore the honor title “Emperor Frederick, King of Prussia” and wore the “FR” monogram on its shoulder straps and shoulder boards. The base cup of the finial is threaded for attachment to the top of a flag pole. The finial is in very good condition, showing a typical age patina but with the fire gilt finish largely intact.
