Imperial Bavarian Model 1889 Cavalry Sword by Carl Eickhorn

In untouched condition, the pierced basket guard exhibits the crest of the lion with the Bavarian shield. The guard displays a dark finish. The black Bakelite grip shows expected scratches but it is without chips or cracks. The sharpened, long straight quill-back blade carries the Eickhorn name at the ricasso. The blade is mostly light grey but shows scattered dark spots along its length on both sides. The original Bavarian portepee remains tied to the guard, with the fabric being darkly toned with age. The blued scabbard finish is largely intact, showing scratches and areas of light surface rust.
