Imperial Austro-Hungarian Dress Sword with Triple Etched Blade by Weyersberg & Stank with Portepee

The sword has an overall length in the scabbard of approximately 37 inches, with a blade length of approximately 31 inches. The ricasso bears the maker mark of the Solingen firm of Weyersberg & Stank. The blade shows scattered spots and speckling as well as surface grime, but the blade is essentially mirror bright. The blade has etched panels on both sides as well as on the spine. The pierced guard, ferrule, back strap, and pommel all retain much of the fire gilt finish. The grip is covered in sharkskin and it remains tightly wrapped in twisted brass wire. Tied around the grip is a bright gold bullion portepee. The scabbard fittings similarly retain significant amounts of the fire gilt finish, with the fittings exhibiting age and patina. The leather sections of the scabbard show some scuffs and scratches, but the leather is minly in good polish. Overall the sword is in excellent condition and it makes an impressive appearance.
