Identified Mexican Border / WWI 29th Division Medals Group

The medals were awarded to Willard Parker, who served on the Mexican Border as a member of the New Jersey National Guard, and in World War I with the 114th Infantry Regiment, a component of the 29th Infantry Division. The group is comprised of the following:

-U.S. Army Mexican Border Service Medal, full wrap brooch suspension, with the medal numbered “33130” on the edge. The medal is accompanied by two ribbon bars;

-World War I Victory Medal, full wrap brooch suspension, with bars for “Meuse-Argonne” and “Defensive Sector” (the two bars to which the 114th Infantry Regiment was entitled). The medal is accompanied by the ribbon bar;

-French Croix De Guerre, with reverse dates of 1914-1918, and including the French attachment prongs device;

-State of New Jersey World War I service medal;

-National Guard of New Jersey Recruiting Medal in gold finish;

-New Jersey National Guard, Company G, 5th Infantry Regiment, Mexican Border Service Medal;

-Mexican Border “In Memory of My Service on the Mexican Border” Souvenir Medal;

-1917 Hackensck, New Jersey, “Entering Service” medal that was presented “to her sons who will fight to make the world safe for democracy”, indicating that this was a very unusual town medal that was presented to the citizens who had volunteered for the service but before they had actually served.

-Hackensck, New Jersey, World War I Service Medal;

-Three collar disks, all with attachment nuts: a “N.J.” New Jersey State collar disk; a “USNG” National Guard collar disk; and the collar disk for Company “C” of the 114th Infantry Regiment.

-Willard Parker’s dog tags, on the original twine neck cord.

All of the items are in very good to excellent condition.
