German Weimar Era Model 1929 Reichsmarine Officer Dagger with Portepee by WKC
$1,550.00
The blade of the dagger is generally bright, showing some scattered spots and surface dirt. The ricaso bears the knight’s helmet logo of the firm of Weyersberg, Kirschbaum & Cie, or “WKC”. The celluloid grip is without chips or cracks and it remains wrapped in twisted brass wire. The pommel is the “reeds and cattails” design that replaced the imperial crown in the Weimar era and which would in turn be replaced by the eagle and swastika pommel in the Third Reich. The pommel, guard and the scabbard all show a fine and uncleaned patina. An officer’s portepee is tied around the guard in the classic “reefer knot”, and it has obviously been on the dagger since the dagger was first worn, with the portepee showing age toning and some typical fraying. The scabbard, with lightning bolt designs, shows some verdigris. Overall excellent condition.
