German Single Decal Army M40 Camouflage Wire Helmet

This helmet surfaced here in Pennsylvania about 40 years ago in a farm outbuilding. The helmet is completely untouched and uncleaned, the interior shows the result of having been stored in a building shared by rodents, who feasted on the liner. The chin strap is broken and dry, the liner is chewed and dry. The good news is that the chicken wire is unquestionably original to the helmet and the Heer decal rates at about 70%.
