German Army 5th Cavalry Regiment Oberleutnant Service Tunic

$1,250.00

The tunic is constructed of service quality wool. The upper left breast bears an Army NCO / officer’s eagle that is machine woven in flat silver wire threads and which is machine sewn to the tunic (though it is not sewn through the lining). Both the collar tabs and the sew in shoulder boards have the golden yellow waffenfarbe of the Cavalry branch. The shoulder boards carry the number “5” for the 5th Cavalry Regiment, The lower left front of the tunic has sets of loops for four badges or decorations. The second buttonhole carries the sewn ribbons for the 1939 Iron Cross Second class and the Eastern Front Medal. The tunic shows signs of wear, with a period repair of the lining at the interior of the collar. There are minor scattered holes in the tunic, the most noteworthy being three holes on the exterior of the lower left sleeve. Overall the tunic makes a very good appearance as a Cavalry officer’s field worn service tunic.
